Spice Tones

It’s no surprise that warm, earthy spice tones, one of the top home decor trends of the year, continue to prove popular this Autumn. Traditional fall colours such as russet and berry can easily be paired with this Summer’s favourite sun-baked shades such as dusky pink, ochre and clay to create a sumptuous, cosy vibe.

Spice tone accents can also be seen paired with black pieces and natural materials to create a more laid-back vibe. The growing influence of Wabi-Sabi (a Japanese philosophy focused on accepting and finding beauty in the imperfect) is reflected in the continuing popularity of handmade or non-uniform objects, particularly ceramics.

Dusky Pink and Olive Green

Pairing dusky pinks with sage and olive greens is also continuing to grow in popularity. Both Maisons du Monde and Habitat feature this look in their latest collections, citing influences ranging from Japanese-style minimalism to art deco luxe.

Complete the look by adding texture with soft velvets and knits. Take inspiration from Anthropologie’s gorgeous new collaboration with Soho Home, which features vintage-inspired designs, lots of curves, spice coloured velvets and brass accents.

Scandi Neutral

Finally, if you prefer a more neutral colour palette then pair natural materials such as rattan and linen with sculptural accent pieces, textured cushions and pampas grass. Combine with black-accented furniture to add a Japanese twist to the Scandi minimalist look, known as Japandi.
