Continuing my series on modern vintage decor, let’s take a deep dive into modern vintage cushions!
First, what do I mean by modern vintage? Well, it’s a classic style reflected in trends such as cottagecore, grand millennial style and grandma chic, with their delicately patterned wallpaper, pleated lampshades and hand-painted china. It’s a great way to add character to a space, taking inspiration from the past in terms of colours and styles, while keeping it functional for today.

Modern Vintage Cushions
In my recent Spring post, I highlighted the current trends toward muted pastels, pops of primary colour, scallops, ruffles and stripes. Add some classic textile designs and you have all key ingredients for a stunning collection of modern vintage cushions (because you can never have just one).
Colour Palette
Create a more muted, monochrome scheme by opting for warm neutrals, dusky pinks, sage greens and sky blues. Alternatively, introduce pops of colour with mustard yellow, earthy red or navy blue.

Pattern
Introduce patterned cushions with smaller repeat designs such as delicate florals or ticking stripe, or classic textile designers such as William Morris. Pair with a plush, inviting sofa or armchair with scroll arms and turned wooden legs. Create a layered look with multiple colours, patterns and textures. Extra points for scallops, ruffles or checks.
