For my latest trend report I’m going to be focusing on curves. It seems that every time I look at Pinterest or Instagram these days I see another imaginative and sexy use of the humble curve, be it in arches, scallops or even rainbows. Not to mention the curves also seen in the latest trend for female forms, which I wrote about last month.
I’ve gathered together some inspirational images below plus my top tips on how to introduce curves into your own home decor.
Arches
We aren’t all lucky enough to have built-in archways but there are lots of other ways to introduce this trend into your home.
Why not try a painted archway to highlight a particular area of a room? For example a favourite piece of furniture or in place of a headboard in the bedroom.
Storage
Furniture can also be used to introduce curves and arches into a room. Storage cabinets and shelving are particularly striking.
For a bit of luxury why not consider a curved bar?
Mirrors
Another way to add dramatic curves to your home decor is by choosing an arched mirror. Large standing mirrors make a real statement.
Scalloped Furniture
Another trend, which I first wrote about last year, is for scalloped furniture, particularly upholstered beds and velvet chairs.
Accessorise with shell-shaped cushions.
Rainbows
Not just for supporting the NHS, rainbows are also inspiring some of the latest home decor collections.
Check out this amazing painted rainbow backdrop from Probably This.
Curves
For the ultimate homage to curves, consider a ribbed wall such as this spectacular rainbow effect from the Munna and Ginger & Jagger showcase at Decorex, the international interior design show.
To replicate this look at home and on a budget follow the example of Caroline Lee (featured in Architectural Digest) who created this stunning ribbed wall by painting PVC sewer pipes from Home Depot!
