I’m beginning to formulate the final look I’d like for the new house and this morning I found my thoughts turning to accent chairs. While not as big an investment as a new sofa or bed, an accent chair will still play a key role in the overall design of a room. Ideally you want something that will make a statement, but which will also have the quality and timelessness to survive any future trends or redecorating you might wish to indulge in. After all, that’s what cushions are for!

It’s also worth considering the possibility of upcycling or reupholstering a second hand piece. Keep on eye on local online listings such as Gumtree and make friends at your local charity shop. Recently I was lucky enough to find a Parker Knoll 3-piece suite which is currently awaiting my attention.
